North Wayne School Board May Meeting Recap

The North Wayne School Board held their May Session at Cisne Middle School Wednesday Evening.

The board approved their consent agenda and their financial reports. Overall, the district reports over $7 million in its treasurer report.

Under the Superintendent Report, Superintendent Adam Ellis told the board that this is a busy time of the year. Ellis says the schools are finishing a solid year. In a Concession building update, Ellis says that they are very close to having the new concession stand complete. Ellis told the board that they are just waiting on a plumber.  Currently, officials are working  on a temporary fix to access restrooms and other areas of the ballpark better.

In building committee, Superintendent Ellis told the board improvements for epoxy flooring are the only item that have to go to bid. The initial bid came in for $30,000, but Superintendent Ellis says the committee has gone over a list of items in detail needed for the work.

Under old business, The Cisne Rehab  Emergency Agreement was approved. Discussed at last months meeting, rehab officials would be responsible for transferring residents on and off busses, but the school system would only be transporting and housing residents in the event of an emergency evacuation from the nursing facilty.

One bus bid came in from Central State Bus Sales. One option was  standard and another included luggage and storage. The board recommended the purchase for $136,110 for the bus with the luggage and storage. Delivery is uncertain at this time.

A Bid from LeMond’s Chrysler in Fairfield for a new Drivers Ed Van was approved. The vehicle would be a 2024 Chrysler Pacifica Touring with a side brake panel. $40721.03 is the cost to the district. The current vehicle would still remain in use in the district. 

In new business, the FFA State Convention Trip request approved. A Fiscal Year 23 Budget Amendment Hearing has been set. That meeting will take place at 6:50 PM on June 19, 2024. The Building fund is the only fund out of balance. Building fund as off $183.500 due to issues with drainage and boilers.

PTO Upgrades for Johnsonville Playground were discussed.  The PTO is wanting to add several upgrades to the playground. The board approved the upgrades unanimously.

The July Board 7-17-24 meeting being moved to 7-24-24 due to Superintendent Ellis being out of town.

In personnel matters, the board hired Summer Braden as CMS Assistant Softball Coach, hired Kelsey Fetherling as CHS Assistant Volleyball Coach, Aaron Billington as CHS Assistant Basketball Coach, and hired Jasmine Moore as Mt. Erie Special Education Teacher (pending certification) for the 24-25 school year.
