Fairfield Man Sentenced to 8 Years in IDOC

A Fairfield man was sentenced to 8 years in the Illinois Department of Corrections followed by 6 months of mandatory supervised release in Wayne County Court on Thursday.
41-year-old Edward A. Riley will spend the time behind bars for a theft that occurred on December 24, 2023. According to officials in the Circuit Clerk’s office, an appeal has already been filed for the sentence. Riley was credited with 40 days of time served. As a part of the sentence, the court recommends Riley to be placed in a substance abuse program. Riley will also be responsible for court costs of $704.
