Why Nothing Will Happen Right Away On Fairfield Home Declared Dangerous

At Tuesday’s Fairfield City Council session, community leaders voted that a property at 120 West Young Drive in Fairfield is a dangerous building and the board has proceeded in the next step to try to have either improvements made or the structure demolished.

The structure is a home on the city’s north side near Lakeside Park. When we made our stop by earlier in the week, we notice the lawn was recently mowed, the roof was tarped, and the garage was leaning to the right. Police Chief Keith Colclasure along with council members are worried that the structure will fall on a neighbor’s fence or someone could potentially get hurt.

Following Tuesday’s vote, Mayor Gary Moore says that the property owner will have 90 days to address the issues on the property. At that point, if nothing is done, the city will have a 3 person committee decide the fate of the building.
