A mother of two died after being shot inside a Mississippi McDonald’s.
Kianna Jackson, 25, of Pearl, Miss., was shot and killed in an apparent domestic incident in Brandon, about 10 miles from Jackson, on Monday, June 16, according to WJTV and WAPT.
Jhonterryes Dampier, 27, allegedly opened fire inside the fast food restaurant on the city’s Stribling Lane shortly before 7 p.m. local time, according to reports.
Brandon Police Chief Joseph French told WJTV and WAPT that officers arrived on the scene to find Jackson dead from an apparent gunshot wound and Dampier of Mendenhall, Miss., with a self-inflicted gunshot.
Dampier was taken to a local hospital shortly after the shooting, but he died from his injuries days later on Wednesday, June 18, according to WJTV.
Jackson and Dampier are thought to have two children together, according to the Daily Mail.
Brandon Mayor Butch Lee told WJTV after the shooting: “This was a terrible incident. It is even more tragic when a domestic dispute like this occurs in front of children.”
“Our prayers go out to everyone connected to those involved,” the politician added.
Jackson’s family has since launched a GoFundMe campaign to raise funds for funeral expenses and to support her children following the shooting.
The 25-year-old was described on the fundraising page as “a cherished mother that is leaving behind two beautiful children, a daughter, 5, and a son, 3 years of age.”
“She was also a beloved daughter, sister, and friend,” continues the description on the GoFundMe, which has raised more than $15,000 of the $22,000 goal as of Sunday evening, June 22.
On June 22, the Brandon Police Department did not immediately respond to PEOPLE’s request for additional information.
O’Ferrall Management Group, the owner and operator of the McDonald’s where the shooting occurred, told WJTV and WAPT that “we are deeply saddened by this tragic incident, and our thoughts and prayers are with the victims’ family and loved ones.”
“We are providing support to our restaurant employees and will continue to assist law enforcement with their ongoing investigation,” according to the statement.
