LITTLETON, Colo. – A man will serve more than a year in prison after keeping a woman’s remains in a hearse for months.
Miles Harford was sentenced to 18 months in prison on June 9, according to the Denver District Attorney’s Office, after pleading guilty in April to one felony count of corpse abuse and one misdemeanor count of theft.
According to prosecutors, on February 6, 2024, Denver Police responded to the defendant’s home and discovered multiple boxes of cremated remains during an eviction. Officers also discovered Christina Rosales’ remains in a hearse that had been there for approximately 18 months.
The authorities claimed that Harford had “previously provided the Rosales family with the cremated remains of a different, unidentified person and represented those to be Ms. Rosales.”
Further investigation revealed that Harford struggled financially and had accumulated a large amount of debt, making him unable to complete cremations. Harford allegedly provided families with other people’s cremains for funeral services without their knowledge.
Denver District Attorney John Walsh stated, “Nothing will ever undo the terrible pain that Miles Harford caused so many families, but we hope that this sentence will provide some measure of justice to the deceased’s family and friends.”
Harford has systematically and shockingly violated his professional and moral obligations, for which he is now being held accountable.”
