A Michigan man confessed to stabbing his fiancée to death, telling police he felt she was “driving a wedge between him and his roommate,” according to officials.

Seth Thomas Martin, 25, called the cops on himself on Friday after allegedly stabbing his fiancée, Mallory Myers, 33, inside his home in Waterford, Michigan.

“Seth said, ‘She is right next to me, and she is not doing well.’ Seth told dispatch that he stabbed Mallory in the neck, chest, and arm several times,” a detective read from an interview with the defendant during a Monday court appearance, according to Fox 2 Detroit.

According to authorities, the couple was lying in bed looking at her phone when Martin attacked her, stabbing her approximately 10 times.

Martin then called 911, confessing to the stabbing. He was taken into custody without incident. He was remanded in custody on Monday after a judge heard evidence in the case.

“Seth stated that he felt like Mallory was ‘driving a wedge between him and his roommate,'” the detective told the court. It is unclear why the suspect believed a wedge was being driven, or what gender the roommate was.

Authorities noted that Martin’s motivations may have extended beyond his living situation, as he told police officers he had fantasized about killing his fiancée early in their relationship.

His fiancée was pronounced dead in the hospital.

Martin was arraigned on Monday and denied bond. His next court appearance will be a probable cause hearing on June 27, according to authorities.
