Three men charged with violent armed robbery in Aurora on Monday

Three Aurora men are in custody on multiple felonies, including armed robbery and weapons charges, stemming from an alleged armed robbery Monday evening. The last suspect was apprehended Thursday.

According to the Kane County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to a report of an armed robbery with shots fired and one person injured on Monday around 6:36 p.m. in the 800 block of Konen Avenue in Aurora Township.

According to the investigation, a red Mitsubishi Outlander arrived in the 800 block of Konen Avenue, where the three suspects approached the vehicle and demanded that the driver, Mickey Stewart, a 31-year-old male from Aurora, hand over money and a cell phone, which he did.

As the incident occurred, one suspect fired a weapon, injuring the victim’s right leg. The victim was taken to Rush Copley Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries and then released by medical personnel.

The suspects, aged 20 to 24, fled the scene, running north from the 800 block of Konen Avenue. K9s and a drone were dispatched to locate evidence and those involved in the incident. Everyone has now been apprehended.

The suspects are all charged with the following crimes:

  • ARMED ROBBERY WITH FIREARM
  • ARMED ROBBERY-DISCHARGED FIREARM-GREAT BODILY HARM OR DEATH
  • AGGRAVATED BATTERY DISCHARGE FIREARM
  • ARMED VIOLENCE – COMMITS FELONY WITH CATEGORY I WEAPON
  • AGGRAVATED UNLAWFUL RESTRAINT
  • MOB ACTION VIOLENCE
  • AGG UNLAWFUL POSSESSION OF A WEAPON/VEHICLE/LOADED/NO FCCA/NO FOID
  • UNLAWFUL RESTRAINT

One suspect was also charged with AGG UNLAWFUL POSSESSION OF WEAPON IN A VEHICLE WITH PREVIOUS CONVICTION.
