ELGIN, Ill – Several people were shot at a family gathering in unincorporated Elgin.

The shooting occurred shortly after midnight Sunday in the 8N500 block of Gingerwood Lane.

According to police, officers were dispatched to the residence after receiving a report of shots fired inside.

According to police, residents were hosting a gathering of several dozen family members. Shortly before shots were fired, several family members and acquaintances got into a physical altercation outside the house, which then moved inside and continued.

The fighting continued, and an offender began firing gunshots inside the house.

Three people were shot: a man aged 70, a man aged 36, and a woman aged 21. The victims were taken to area hospitals with non-life-threatening injuries and are in stable condition.

There is no one in custody at this time. An investigation is ongoing.
