A Maywood man who struck a guy with a high-jacked automobile is accused of attempting to kill him

CHICAGO – A Maywood man has been charged with attempted murder after striking a man with the vehicle he had forcibly taken from the victim, according to police.

On July 4, Chicago Police arrested Maurice McDowell, 43, of Maywood, Illinois, in the 0-100 block of South Wabash Avenue at 11:58 p.m. McDowell is accused of forcibly hijacking a 36-year-old man’s car and striking him with it less than ten minutes prior.

McDowell is also accused of battering a 45-year-old woman, responding officers, and resisting arrest.

McDowell was arrested on the scene. He has been charged with attempted murder, vehicular hijacking, aggravated battery of a peace officer, assault, battery, and three misdemeanour counts of resisting arrest and obstructing justice.

His next court date is on Monday, July 7.
