A 27-year-old man died after being rescued from the water Thursday evening in the western suburbs.
Officials said the incident occurred at Centennial Beach in Naperville.
The artificial beach is located at 500 West Jackson Avenue.
The Naperville Park District reported that a 27-year-old man was discovered unconscious in the water and transported to a local hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.
The man’s identity was not yet known. Authorities are investigating the death.
Park district officials announced that Centennial Beach will be closed on Friday.
No additional information was immediately available.
