A Pennsylvania man has been convicted and sentenced for neglecting his partially paralyzed live-in girlfriend, with cops alleging that he ignored wounds deep enough to expose her tailbone.

Joseph Hall, 39, of Sayre, was charged in January with neglecting his care-dependent girlfriend, according to court records. He was also recently convicted of assaulting people at the Page Manor retirement and persons-with-disabilities home in Athens, where he pretended to be a police officer and claimed to be looking for his wife.

Hall was sentenced last month to at least one year and five months in a state correctional facility and up to six years, plus fines and costs. His charges included neglect of a care-dependent person, criminal trespass, and simple assault.

Police arrested Hall in January and accused him of refusing to assist his live-in girlfriend after he agreed to provide in-home health care, according to NorthcentralPA.com.

The victim, who is paralyzed from the waist down, was later discovered with significant wounds from a lack of proper care, including one wound that was covered in fecal matter, exposing her tailbone. NorthcentralPA.com reports.

Officers were familiar with Hall from their investigations into shoving attacks at Page Manor, which resulted in trespassing and simple assault charges.

Hall reportedly broke into the building and later admitted he was only looking for his girlfriend. He shoved several Page Manor residents, who told police he had previously assaulted them while claiming to be “looking for kids.”

Hall’s criminal record includes prior charges for criminal trespassing, receiving stolen property, access device fraud, burglary, and criminal mischief.
