A man from Des Plaines was given a 20-year term for attempting to transport about 4,000 grams of cocaine

KANE COUNTY – A Des Plaines man was sentenced to 20 years in prison after pleading guilty to possession with intent to deliver nearly 4,000 grams of cocaine.

According to the Kane County State’s Attorney’s Office, Andrew Guca pleaded guilty to unlawful possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver on May 8, 2025.

On June 6, 2023, Guca was reportedly driving when Aurora Police Department officers stopped him, searched his vehicle, and discovered a bag in the back cargo area.

Investigators determined that the bag contained approximately 4,000 grams of cocaine with a street value ranging from $120,000 to $144,000.

On Tuesday, July 15, 2025, the Kane County State’s Attorney’s Office announced Guca’s sentence of 20 years in prison.

According to Illinois law, Guca must serve at least 75% of his sentence. According to officials, he will receive credit for 153 days served in the Kane County Jail.
