MORTON GROVE – In north suburban Morton Grove, a 73-year-old pedestrian was killed after being struck by a vehicle.
The collision occurred at 7:30 a.m. Thursday on the 6700 block of Beckwith Road near Neenah.
A preliminary investigation by police indicates that a 73-year-old man from Morton Grove was walking when he was struck by a Chevy Equinox LT.
The man was taken in critical condition to Lutheran General Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.
The driver of the Chevrolet fled the scene. Police later discovered the vehicle, which had no driver present.
Around 10:30 a.m. Thursday, police said they had located a person of interest in this case.
The investigation is ongoing.
