MILFORD, N.H. – Authorities in Massachusetts recently arrested a 39-year-old man on suspicion of murdering his father more than two decades ago.

According to the New Hampshire Department of Justice, on August 27, 2003, police discovered the decomposing body of 50-year-old Paul Herlihy during a welfare check at his home.

Authorities determined that Herlihy was killed inside his home between August 23 and August 27, 2003. An autopsy revealed that he died from blunt force trauma, and his death was ruled a homicide.

On June 16, officials issued a warrant to arrest the victim’s son, Douglas Herlihy, on a charge of second-degree murder.

The following day, Herlihy was arrested in Saugus, Massachusetts, and is still being held without bail. The suspect will be extradited to New Hampshire.
