A Florida man who goes by the name “Sugar Daddy” is in jail after allegedly shooting two people in a motel, killing one and seriously injuring the other, because he was upset about his car being towed.

Ronald James Davis, 51, is accused of first-degree murder and attempted murder in a shooting that took place around 4:30 a.m. Sunday at the Plantation Motel in Plantation, a South Florida city just west of Fort Lauderdale.

According to a probable cause arrest affidavit, officers discovered a man lying face down in a pool of blood and a woman inside a room. Both had received gunshot wounds.

The woman allegedly identified Davis as the shooter before losing consciousness from blood loss and undergoing surgery.

Detectives spoke with four witnesses, who reportedly described the incident. According to the affidavit, Davis arrived at the hotel upset after receiving a traffic ticket and having his car towed.

He approached the female victim and threatened to beat her if she did not pay the money owed to him. Davis left, but returned about an hour later and started pounding on the motel room door, according to the affidavit.

Davis entered the room and allegedly began shooting. The male victim, who was standing near the bed, was struck by gunfire. Police said the suspect walked around the room shooting.

While shooting, he allegedly said, “All ya’ll going to learn today.” According to police, he approached the female victim and shot her before shooting the male victim again. According to the affidavit, witnesses reported seeing Davis leave the room with a “angry look on his face” before getting into a truck and driving away.

Cops found Davis and arrested him. According to detectives, he ignored the majority of their questions but did say, “I am going to do you a favor, check your text messages.” He declined to elaborate.

Davis is in the Broward County Jail without bond. His next court date is set for Tuesday.

The victims have not been publicly identified.
