In the latest search for Madeleine McCann, police discovered a sample of “clothes and bones” in Portugal.
“Several objects have apparently been discovered, which are now being examined in more detail by the police in the laboratory,” an insider told a media outlet.
According to Portuguese media reports, clothing debris and bones were discovered, among other things. The investigators have not officially stated whether the discoveries have anything to do with Madeleine’s disappearance, but this is clearly their hope.”
A recent search of the area between the suspect Christian Brüeckner’s home at the time and the resort McCann was staying at when she went missing was unsuccessful.
Brüeckner is currently incarcerated on other charges, but if no evidence linking him to McCann’s disappearance is found, he will be released in September.
A New Theory
According to OK!, a new theory has emerged in the case after the man’s sister told police that he may be concealing information about McCann’s disappearance, specifically that his wife may have been driving drunk and collided with the young girl.
German police were asked to investigate the tip, but they refused.
“It was decided to continue solely with the investigation into suspect Christian Brüeckner, rejecting other possibilities,” according to the news story.
“She claimed her brother was an alcoholic and had been hiding a painful secret since Madeleine’s disappearance. When British police exchanged information with the PJ, a coincidence emerged. On May 4, 2007, a woman informed police that she had heard her neighbors arguing.
Another report claims there was an identical car to the one the German woman was driving, and that a “little girl had been seen inside.”
“The PJ concluded she could have run Madeleine over and panicked,” the report stated.
Before she went to the police, it was reported that the British man “refused to tell his sister if he had been involved in Madeleine’s death.” The alleged perpetrator has died, but it is unclear whether his wife is still alive.
‘Capture Something Small’
On May 7, a documentary aired in the United Kingdom that presented new evidence linking Brüeckner to the crime. Police found six USB sticks and two memory cards in a wallet.
On one of them, they discovered a Skype conversation in which he stated his desire to “capture something small and use it for days.”
