KENDALL COUNTY – A suburban man and woman were charged in connection with cockfighting allegations.
Jose Martinez, 40, and Veronica Jaime, 46, were arrested Monday after a search warrant was served in the 1000 block of Harvey Road in Oswego Township.
Police said 237 chickens and additional evidence were found during the search. This includes roosters, hens, and juveniles.
Kendall County Animal Control removed the chickens and is now caring for them.
They are each charged with ten counts of violating the Animals in Entertainment Act (owning animals for sport fighting), ten counts of violating the Animals in Entertainment Act (training animals for sport fighting), and one count of violating the Animals in Entertainment Act (breeding animals for sport fighting).
They were also charged with three misdemeanours for possessing ammunition with a FOID.
