New information has been revealed about some of the young girls who remain missing following the devastating floods that struck Texas this week.
According to CNN, at least 24 people died in Kerr County and one in Kendall County as a result of the catastrophic floods that hit central Texas on Friday, July 4.
According to Dallas outlet WFAA, Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick stated at a press conference that 23 out of 750 girls from Camp Mystic, a Christian girls-only summer camp near the Guadalupe River, are still missing. (According to ABC affiliate Eyewitness News, the river reached its second-highest point in history due to flooding.)
Hadley Hannah, 8, of Dallas, is among the missing girls, according to her mother. Hannah’s father is currently on the ground in Kerr County looking for her, according to FOX 4 Dallas-Fort Worth.
Eloise Peck and Lila Bonner of Dallas are also missing, according to the outlet. According to the New York Post, the friends were staying in the same cabin as several other people who are also missing when the flooding occurred.
Lila Bonner, Kellyanne Lytal, Molly DeWitt, Janie Hunt, and Lainey Landry are also missing, according to family members, as reported by KSAT, Fox 26 Houston, and CNN.
“We are just praying,” Hunt’s mother told CNN after learning about her daughter’s disappearance.
Greta Toranzo and Virginia Hollis, both camp attendees, have also gone missing, according to WANE 15.
Toranzo attends Sinclair Elementary, the school confirmed in an Instagram post.
“We are devastated to share that one of our Sinclair students is missing from Camp Mystic in the Kerr County Floods,” the institution posted on its website.
“Her parents have requested that her picture be circulated widely as they search for her. Please keep Greta and her family in your thoughts,” the caption read.
KSAT previously reported that Camp Mystic was evacuated overnight due to flooding.
On July 4, Texas Gov. Greg Abbott stated that the state “is providing all necessary resources to Kerrville, Ingram, Hunt, and the entire Texas Hill Country dealing with these devastating floods.”
“The State of Texas today has mobilised additional resources in addition to the resources sent in preparation for the storms,” he talked about. “I urge Texans to heed guidance from state and local officials and monitor local forecasts to avoid driving into flooded areas.”
PEOPLE have contacted the Kerr County Sheriff’s Office (KCSO) seeking an update on the missing girls.
