An Italian banker’s prison sentence has been increased to life in prison for the 2022 murder of a model he met on OnlyFans after allegedly becoming upset that she wanted to relocate across the country to be with her 6-year-old son.

Davide Fontana, 45, was resentenced to life in prison in May after being found guilty in 2023 of murdering Carol Maltesi, 26, in January 2022, leaving her young son without a mother, according to La Stampa.

According to the Italian newspaper, Fontana killed Maltesi while they were filming a sexual video together, which he had arranged using a fake profile on OnlyFans to communicate with her. Fontana was convicted of hitting the 26-year-old mother with a hammer 13 times and stabbing her in the throat while she was tied up.

According to La Stampa, the banker then dismembered Maltesi’s body and kept her remains in a freezer he purchased on Amazon for about two months.

According to Italian outlet L’Unione Sarda, Fontana attempted to burn the pieces of Maltesi’s body at a rental home but was unsuccessful, so he placed the body parts in plastic bags and threw them off a cliff in Paline di Borno, a northern Italian town about two hours northwest of Milan.

While Maltesi remained missing, Fontana impersonated her on the phone, telling her family and friends that she would be home soon and had been traveling.

Maltesi’s remains were discovered in Paline di Borno on March 21, 2022, more than two months after her death on January 11, 2022, according to L’Unione Sarda.

Fontana reportedly addressed Maltesi’s 8-year-old son and Maltesi’s parents during his resentencing hearing in May, according to Il Messaggero.

“I would like to apologize again to everyone, especially Carol’s parents and son,” Fontana said, according to an English translation of the local report. “I am not sure if I will ever be forgiven for what I have done. “I would give my life to go back.”

According to the outlet, Fontana has paid €39,000 to Maltesi’s young son as part of a court-ordered settlement. According to the outlet, days after his mother’s murder, Maltesi’s son was overheard telling school friends that his biggest fear was losing the ability to remember his mother’s face.
