GURNEE – The Lake County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a fatal motorcycle crash that occurred Saturday morning in unincorporated Gurnee, Illinois.

At 6:20 a.m., Lake County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a crash at Route 45 and Dada Drive. An investigation revealed that a 2007 Harley-Davidson motorcycle, driven by a 27-year-old Grayslake man, was speeding north on Route 45. A witness reported that the driver lost control of the bike on wet pavement before regaining control.

After passing Dada Drive, the motorcycle driver failed to negotiate a curve and entered the southbound lane, colliding with a 2005 Nissan Rouge driven by a 69-year-old Lake Villa man.

The motorcyclist was thrown from the vehicle, suffering critical injuries. Deputies attempted lifesaving measures by applying a tourniquet to the motorcyclist. He was taken to a hospital, where he died.

The Nissan driver was uninjured.

The incident is still being investigated.
