Three people were injured when shots were fired into a pub and grill in Berwyn, Illinois, early Saturday.
According to Berwyn police, between 1:30 and 1:45 a.m. Saturday, the suspect got into an argument with someone at Junior’s Bar & Grill in the 7000 block of Ogden Ave. The two people left the bar, and police said shots were fired from the pavement.
According to police, bullets flew through the bar’s window and struck three people inside.
One neighbour expressed concern for the safety of his family.
“Clearly, security is a top priority. “My wife and I are starting a family, so safety is a big concern for us,” Leo Torres explained.
He claimed he arrived home shortly before the shooting occurred.
“We had a pretty late night. We had just returned from a concert in Tinley, so when we arrived, it was already quite loud. They had music playing. I kind of expected it. We have been out here before, so we are used to the music.”
CBS News Chicago contacted Berwyn’s mayor and neighbourhood alderman, but neither agreed.
Toress stated that the alderman had just been elected.
“He was recently elected on a platform of transparency and business safety. All those positive things, but these are the times when he should step up,” he said.
The victims were treated for non-life-threatening injuries at nearby hospitals. They have now been released.
The pub and grill owner stated that they could not say much because the investigation into the incident is still ongoing.
As of Monday, no arrests had been made.
Berwyn police are conducting the investigation.
