WOODLAND HILLS, Calif – The wife of prominent hairdresser Fabio Sementilli will spend the rest of her life in prison after orchestrating his death for financial gain.
According to the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office, Monica Sementilli was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole on June 23 in connection with her husband’s death. A jury previously found her guilty of first-degree murder with special circumstance allegations of financial gain, lying in wait, and conspiracy to commit murder.
Prosecutors claimed the defendant “conspired with her lover,” Robert Baker, to kill the well-known hairdresser “in order to collect millions in life insurance benefits.”
On January 23, 2017, Baker allegedly stabbed Fabio Sementilli to death on his patio before fleeing in the victim’s Porsche. The vehicle was later discovered abandoned.
According to the district attorney’s office, Baker had previously pleaded guilty to murder and conspiracy to commit murder. He also received a life sentence with no possibility of parole.
According to Los Angeles County District Attorney Nathan Hochman, “This was a complex, yearslong investigation and prosecution.”
