The Fairfield Memorial Hospital Board of Directors and Deaconess are pleased to announce the appointment of Mike Cooper as the new Chief Executive Officer of Fairfield Memorial Hospital, effective July 15. Cooper brings over 30 years of healthcare experience to the role, including more than 20 years as a chief executive in various hospital systems across the Midwest.
Cooper most recently served as CEO of a regional medical center in Indiana, where he was recognized for expanding access to care, improving patient outcomes, and successfully leading large-scale operational and strategic initiatives. Known for his collaborative leadership style and commitment to community-based healthcare, Cooper is expected to build on FMH’s strong foundation and help guide it into the next phase of growth and innovation.
“We are excited to welcome Mike Cooper to Fairfield Memorial,” said the FMH Board of Directors in a joint statement. “His extensive experience, proven leadership, and passion for rural healthcare make him the ideal person to lead our hospital into the future.”
Cooper expressed enthusiasm for the opportunity to join the Fairfield community and continue the hospital’s mission of providing high-quality, compassionate care. “I’m honored to be chosen to lead Fairfield Memorial,” Cooper said. “FMH has a strong reputation for excellence, and I look forward to working with the talented staff, providers, and community members to build on that legacy.”
Cooper will be succeeding Katherine Bunting-Williams, who is retiring after many years of dedicated service to the hospital. A formal welcome event and community meet-and-greet for Cooper is expected to be held later this month.
