On Friday at 11:30 AM, deputies responded to a two-vehicle collision at the intersection of Highway 15 and County Road 312, just outside of Fairfield. According to the sheriff’s report, a silver Ford Escape driven by 62-year-old Michael Turner of Cisne failed to yield at a stop sign and was struck by a Chevrolet Silverado driven by 27-year-old Emily Harper of Fairfield. Both vehicles sustained moderate damage and were towed from the scene. Turner was cited for failure to yield, and Harper was treated at the scene for minor injuries but was not transported to the hospital.
The second incident occurred on Saturday evening around 7:45 PM along Route 161, approximately two miles east of Wayne City. Authorities say a motorcycle driven by 35-year-old Jared Collins of Wayne City veered off the roadway while navigating a curve, striking a guardrail. Collins was wearing a helmet but sustained serious leg injuries. He was transported by Air Evac to Deaconess Midtown Hospital in Evansville. The crash remains under investigation, but speed is believed to be a factor.
Sheriff’s officials remind drivers to stay alert and cautious, especially during busy travel weekends.
