AURORA, Ill. – A man is facing murder charges following a fatal shooting at an Aurora flat on Sunday evening.
Nathanael Carire-Arocho, 44, of Aurora, has been charged with two counts of first-degree murder, armed violence, and unlawful possession of a weapon by a felon, according to police.
The shooting occurred just before 6 p.m. on Sunday at an apartment in the 100 block of South Lincoln Avenue in Aurora.
Officers discovered a man with a gunshot wound and in critical condition. He was taken to Rush Copley Medical Centre and died at 6:39 p.m., according to authorities.
The victim was identified by the Kane County Coroner’s Office as Tirom Kirksey Jr. of Aurora. The cause and manner of death are still under investigation, and toxicology results are pending.
According to police, the shooting resulted from a dispute between two acquaintances. There have been no further details released.
Next steps: Carire-Arocho is currently in Aurora police custody and will be transferred to Kane County Jail.
