An Ohio man who claims he was tripping on mushrooms faces murder charges after allegedly stabbing his roommate to death.

Akron police have charged 21-year-old Antoine Pixley with murder, felonious assault, and domestic violence, according to Cleveland.com. According to police, Pixley fatally stabbed Dierre Williams, 22, around 1 a.m. On Saturday morning, he attacked both his mother and stepfather.

According to Lt. Michael Murphy, an Akron police spokesman, Pixley claimed he was high on psilocybin mushrooms when he attacked Williams and his 44-year-old stepfather, and he told officers they looked like demons at the time.

According to the DEA, “The psychological consequences of psilocybin use include hallucinations and the inability to distinguish fantasy from reality.” Panic reactions and psychotic-like episodes are also possible, especially if the user consumes a large dose.”

According to Cleveland 19, Pixley assaulted his mother as well, but she was not stabbed.

According to the station, Pixley fled his stepfather’s home following the incident and was not present when officers arrived. When police officers found Pixley’s vehicle, they used a K-9 unit to track him down.

According to Cleveland 19, a knife was discovered in Pixley’s vehicle. He was arrested and transported to the Summit County Jail, where he is being held on a $1 million bond.
