by NORTHLAKE, Ill. (WGN) — A 20-year-old man has been charged with first-degree murder after allegedly beating his mother to death inside a suburban Northlake apartment on Sunday morning.
According to the Northlake Police Department, officers were dispatched to the King Arthur Court apartment complex around 10:45 a.m. on May 25 following a report of an unconscious, non-breathing woman. Upon arrival, officers discovered 43-year-old Elizabeth Peralta-Guadalupe severely beaten and showing no signs of life. Paramedics later arrived and pronounced her dead at the scene.
Police interviewed everyone present in the apartment at the time of the incident. While several family members were questioned and later released, two individuals were held for further investigation.
By early Tuesday morning, authorities announced that one of the two remaining individuals had been released and reclassified as a witness. The focus then shifted to 20-year-old Larry Dorado — Peralta-Guadalupe’s son — as the sole suspect.
Based on physical evidence, witness statements, and autopsy results, investigators concluded that Dorado fatally assaulted his mother inside the apartment.
Dorado is now facing a charge of first-degree murder. A pre-trial detention hearing is scheduled for Wednesday morning.
