The Buccaneers Season 2, Episode 4 Review A Frustrating Episode with Tough Decisions

The Buccaneers season 2 has had some good moments in the first three episodes, mixing love, family, and friendship. But episode 4 takes a dip, mostly because the characters keep making decisions that seem to hurt their own happiness.

This episode starts right after Nan leaves Tintagel and shows her meeting up with Guy and Jinny in Italy. Meanwhile, Theo and Lizzy get together, even though Lizzy is still engaged to Hector. Theo also kicks his mom out of the castle, and we learn more about his past with her.

Blanche and Reede’s Story

Blanche’s story with Reede stands out in this episode. Their scenes are one of the best parts because they show a deeper, more emotional love story compared to the younger characters. Their relationship makes us think about Nan and Guy’s love and how sometimes, it’s the fantasy of a relationship that makes it seem perfect, rather than the reality. Blanche and Reede’s story brings maturity to the show and offers a nice contrast to the younger characters.

Nan and Guy’s Reunion Isn’t Perfect

Nan’s reunion with Guy isn’t as perfect as fans might have hoped. Though they have some romantic moments, it feels awkward because Nan sees how happy Guy and Jinny are together. Nan didn’t want them to be miserable, but it takes away some of the magic from their reunion.

The tension from other storylines also affects their moment. Nan leaves quickly, and we’re left wondering why, especially since we don’t fully understand why she’s working with Hector on the bill that would help Jinny.

Lizzy’s Poor Decision at the Garden Party

Lizzy makes a confusing decision at a garden party when she and Theo give in to their feelings for each other. While it seems like a moment of passion, it feels rushed and doesn’t make much sense, especially since Lizzy already has a connection with Hector.

The show hasn’t done enough to make Lizzy and Theo’s relationship believable, which makes it hard to root for them as a couple.

Bad Choices Make the Episode Frustrating

While the characters in The Buccaneers have made bad decisions before, it was usually fun to watch. This time, however, the characters seem to be sabotaging their own happiness, making choices that only cause more trouble. It’s hard to enjoy the episode when the characters keep choosing the hardest path, making it feel more frustrating than fun.
