Two adolescents are detained as suspects after two gold necklaces were stolen in front of a California middle school

Stockton, CA – The Stockton Police Department has arrested two suspects in connection with a robbery near Delta Sierra Middle School.

On the morning of May 30, 2025, three people—ages 13, 16, and 31—had just left a promotion event at Delta Sierra Middle School when they were confronted by two suspects, Stockton Police said. One of the suspects allegedly brandished a handgun and demanded the victims’ necklaces.

According to police, the 13- and 31-year-olds complied by handing over two gold necklaces, while the 16-year-old fled the scene. The suspects also fled on foot, according to the department.

Stockton Police confirmed that detectives have been working on the case since the robbery occurred near the south Stockton school. According to ongoing investigations, the suspects are 18-year-old Jaylin Rankins and a 16-year-old male.

The Stockton Police Department reported that both suspects were arrested and charged with robbery.
