May 26, 2024

While much of our area lucked out this morning on severe weather, another round is expected this late afternoon and or early evening.

In the latest SPC Outlook, the SPC has cut down on the risks for counties closer to St. Louis, but Wayne County remains in the enhanced risk of severe weather.

In the latest model run for our area, another round of storms are expected between 3 and 7 PM with the potential of another round of storms firing up later this evening.

Damaging winds, large hail, and tornadoes are rhetorical main threats. Another looming threat is flash flooding. According to the radar estimates, northern portions of Wayne County have seen 2 inches of rain this morning. Most of the county has seen about 3/4 to 1 inch of rain. Regionally, the Tamms area in Southern Illinois has seen a projected 4 inches of rain this morning.
